    As we continue to use technology more and more on a daily basis so does the amount of stuff we download from all over the web constantly increase. On one hand web applications can be very useful for your computer or smartphone, on the other hand they can be extremely harmful for your devices. Here are some simple security measures that when taken can dramatically prevent your devices from being attacked and damaged.

    1. Only Download from authorized sites!

    We all want to download that new cool popular apps\ on our smartphones but be wary they may contain malicious software or malware, where hackers can get access to your data easily.  Google Play is the official store for mobile devices, but you can also download applications from other official or authorized sites.

    2. Downloading Free Apps? Who is the author of the software?

    Although many applications can be downloaded from authorized sites, the security conditions accompanied when you download them can be harmful. It is common to find hundreds of free apps, that are certainly not suitable for downloading.

    That is why, whenever downloading free apps, it is important to look at the trajectory of its developer-author of the software as well as the reviews of other users.

    3. Use different passwords to protect your security

    There are many applications that require the creation of a user account and password to execute them. Some are for email, social networks, internet banking and data storage services in the cloud.

    In each case, it is best to set a different password, as this will avoid the bad habit of using the same password everywhere, which increases one’s vulnerability to cyber-attacks or threats from third parties.

    4. Keep your operating system and apps updated

    We assume that web application developers are responsible for detecting security and operational failures, so that they operate optimally. However, it is normal for an app to present inconsistencies or errors at some given point. Therefore, it is recommended that each application be constantly updated, as well as the operating system that is being used on your device, regardless of whether it is a smartphone, tablet or a computer.

    5. Do not reveal any personal information

    Each time an application is installed or used, it is important not to reveal any personal information that may attract hackers and cybercriminals. Never share any information or data that you do not want others to have!
